3D TV Info and Glasses at extra3dglasses.com

3net 3D channel on DirectTV starting Sunday, February 13th

DirecTV has become the first distributor to carry 3net, the joint venture TV network from Sony Corp., Discovery Communications and IMAX. The 24/7 3D TV network will launch on the satcaster on Sunday at 8 PM ET with the world premieres of original 3D programs China Revealed and Forgotten Planet as well as the 3D TV premiere of Into the Deep 3D. The network will roll out original 3D series and other new programming every night at 9 PM ET.

ESPN 3D Boxing – I hope it’s not too realistic

ESPN 3D will broadcast boxing in their “Friday Night Fights” series on February 18th at 9pm EST.
It will be interesting to see how the 3D effect works on this event. On paper it should be very easy to make the boxers (and the referee) ‘pop’ because the background color of the ring will be a solid color and the ring is a relatively small area of focus for the wide camera shots. As with other live-action sports the ability to offer many camera angles & viewpoints while maintaining the 3D effect without excessive ghosting or crosstalk is the key.
I’m definitely looking forward to the slow motion 3D replays. I wonder if they’ll come out like the boxing scenes with Brad Pitt in the movie Snatch.

New iPhone May Offer 4G on Verizon

December 13, 2010 by AGilroy

Apple will introduce a 4G LTE iPhone just after Christmas to be sold through Verizon Wireless, says MacDailyNews.
A tipster spotted the phone during a Verizon training session and said it is already shipping to Verizon warehouses. Verizon will get the exclusive LTE version of the iPhone, he said.
Verizon, which recently launched 4G service in 38 markets does not yet offer a phone to support its faster service but said it would announce LTE phones at the Consumer Electronics Show.
Verizon told Computerworld it would not comment on the rumor, but reiterated that it will offer an LTE smartphone by approximately late February.
The tipster who is described as a credible source also said Apple is helping U.S. carriers build out LTE to get the job done more quickly. This is all rumor but, wow!
Verizon said customers can expect LTE speeds of 5 to 12 megabits per second when downloading and 2 to 5 Mbps when uploading, according to AllThingsD. This appears to be at least twice as fast as some of thebest speeds attainable on the iPhone 4G on AT&T’s HSUPA network.

Own the Original Apple Computer For a Cool Quarter Million

Own the Original Apple Computer For a Cool Quarter MillionWe all gotta start somewhere. For Steve Jobs, that meant his parents' garage, where in 1976 he sold his first batch of 200 Apple-1 computers for the vaguely demonic price of $666.66. Now one's going for $240,000 at auction.
That first machine—hand-carved, packing a whopping 8K memory—is the first of its kind to be sold by a major auction house. Why the steep price? Aside from being a major milestone in technological history, this particular Apple-1 comes in its original packaging, complete with instruction manual and a letter signed by Jobs himself.
Own the Original Apple Computer For a Cool Quarter MillionIt was the first fully pre-assembled computer produced, complete with a 1.0 MHz MOS 6502 processor and an extra cassette interface for read/write capability. It was, essentially, a glorified calculator. And today it's a stunning reminder of how far we've come in just 34 years. [Daily Mail via 9 to 5 Mac]

SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) – US retail powerhouse Target announced on Friday that it will begin selling Apple iPad tablet computers in 1,743 of its stores across the nation on October 3.
The coveted touch-screen gadgets will be priced the same as they are at Apple stores and Best Buy consumer electronics shops, but buyers shopping with Target credit cards will eventually be able to get five percent discounts.
"Target is very excited to offer the revolutionary iPad to our guests nationwide," said retail chain merchandising vice president Mark Schindele.
"We think iPad will be at the top of our guests' holiday shopping lists."
Apple channeling iPads to US retail shops comes as production has begun to catch up with demand that sizzled in the months after the gadgets launched in April.
Analyst firm Piper Jaffray said in a note to investors on Thursday that it expected Apple to sell 21 million iPads in 2011, raising its previous estimate of 14.5 million.
Jaffray cited increased iPad supply and distribution channels along with the roll-out to more countries and adoption of the device in workplaces.
"We see the iPad as the Mac for the masses," Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said, referring to Apple's historically high-end Macintosh computers.
"The iPad represents a meaningful product category for Apple as a secondary computing device for those who already have a primary computer, a primary device for those who could not previously afford a Mac, and the first Apple product that will be a success in the enterprise."
Less than a month ago, Autodesk announced that its AutoCAD software used by professionals to design everything from skyscrapers to pocket knives is reuniting with the Macintosh computer platform.
A version of AutoCAD has been tailored for Macintosh computers, and applications for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch devices will let people collaborate on designs using those popular Apple mobile devices.
"You can imagine it on a factory floor, on a tarmac...there are a lot of places," Autodesk chief executive Carl Bass told AFP while discussing iPad making its way into work places.
"Macs have already been leaking in, but I think the iPad is going to be the device that does it for Apple."
Bass told of routinely seeing architects or designers sketch out plans on iPads during meetings to quickly present ideas.
"The Windows tablets are not there yet; they are so far behind," Bass said, referring to Microsoft operating system software that is firmly entrenched in business networks.
"It is easy for IT departments to keep the Apple products out when there is a credible Windows alternative, but now there is not."
The iPad went on sale in the United States on April 3 and Apple sold more than three million in 80 days.
The iPad allows users to watch video, listen to music, play games, surf the Web or read electronic books. The cheapest iPad costs 499 dollars (US) while the top model is priced at 829 dollars.
AT&T chief executive Randall Stephenson said Tuesday that over half a million iPad owners were using the US telecom giant's cellular network and new tablet computers were expected to help drive growth.
AT&T is the exclusive provider of 3G cellular service for Apple's iPad, which went on sale in the United States in April. It also is the exclusive US carrier for the iPhone.
Apple, maker of the Macintosh computer, the iPod, iPhone and iPad, surpassed Chinese oil giant PetroChina during trading on Thursday to become the world's second-largest company in terms of market value.
Apple shares hit a record 292.76 dollars during trading on Wall Street, giving the California gadget-maker a market capitalization of 266 billion dollars, more than PetroChina's 265 billion dollars.
Apple shares were trading at 292.32 dollars at the close of the stock market in New York City on Friday and slipped about 25 cents after hours.
ExxonMobile is the largest company in the world with a market capitalization -- the number of shares outstanding multiplied by the stock price -- of 310 billion dollars.
Apple passed Microsoft in market capitalization in May to become the world's top technology company.
Apple stock has risen steadily over the past few years as chief executive Steve Jobs, who returned to Apple in 1997, piloted the release of a string of hit products starting with the iPod in 2001, followed by the iPhone in 2007 and the iPad this year.
